The presentation of the 14th edition of the Merco ESG Spain ranking, which recognizes the most environmentally, socially and governance responsible companies, took place on January 21. The event was chaired by Jesús Álvarez, head of Merco Empresas, Líderes y Responsabilidad ESG España.
With regard to the Merco Responsabilidad ESG ranking, on this occasion, Grupo Social Once (1st), Inditex (2nd) and Ikea (3rd) are the three companies leading the ranking, while Mercadona (4th), Mapfre (5th), Mahou San Miguel (6th), Caixabank (7th), Mutua Madrileña (8th), Iberdrola (9th) and Leroy Merlin (10th) complete the top ten positions in the overall ESG ranking.
For its preparation, 1,195 executives, 71 experts in Sustainability/CSR, 100 financial analysts, 77 journalists of economic information and society, 117 members of “Government”, 120 NGOs and environmental NGOs, 78 organizations in the labor sector, 65 consumer associations, 92 Social Media Managers, 400 SMEs, 52,131 surveys of Merco Talent and 9,257 consumers (Merco Society) have participated. At the same time, together with these evaluations, an analysis has been carried out in the digital area of companies (Merco Digital) in collaboration with Nethodology, and a benchmarking of objective indicators that reflects the reality of companies through an evaluation of reputational merits by 83 companies.
